This month, April 2016, things are changing in the way that waste is collected.

From the 1st April, if you put waste out on your collection day it WILL be collected. Stickers will no longer be required, with the Utilities Board resolving to improve waste collection services for the benefit of our health and environment.

From the start of May, you will see that waste charges will now be included in your Tonga Power bill. This new arrangement is to make sure that every home, every institution, and every business pays the waste charges. We all produce waste – let’s make sure that we all contribute to this important service and keep it running.

If you have pre-purchased waste stickers, contact the Waste Authority .

The trucks will be picking up rubbish from all passable roads in every village. Make sure you get value for your waste fees and put your rubbish out once a week. Why store rubbish in your homes and make mosquito habitat? Why burn or bury it illegally, causing damage to the environment and the health of your family and community? Do the right thing and put your rubbish out for the trucks on your collection day.

Please phone the Waste Authority on 27826 or 27827 if you need to know more.

Thanks for your support for a Clean Green Tonga
