Harnessing Technology to Improve Service
Since early 2015, WAL have been utilising a GPS Tracking System on collection vehicles. This is a live system that allows management and customer service staff to log in at any time and check where the trucks are, and their travelling routes.
If a customer is concerned that the truck has not come at the scheduled time, the system can locate the truck and track its movements. Customer Service staff can then let the customer know if the truck has already been past, or if it is in the area.
It allows staff to know where each truck in the fleet is, and provide real time information to our customers about the waste collection service. Another innovation at WAL to improve our service.
